- NIXI (.IN Registry) unlocks Aftermarket availability for .IN , by allowing Registrars (Godaddy, Namecheap, Dynadot and others to list domains) . This will bring .IN on par with other big cctlds of the world like .de , .co.uk etc. This is very important as Godaddy is the single biggest marketplace for aftermarket domains and .IN not being available there is big hindrance for business to buy and sell

 

- NIXI auctions of domain names in its ownership. Many domain names that are either held or reserved by NIXI should be opened up thru auction for business to buy and register (includes many Mitsu domains that could become public this year)

 

- .IN domain becomes more Free Market friendly like .com , .de and .co.uk and regulations and rules for registrants should be carefully managed as to not affect the Confidence in the extension . NIXI needs to carefully understand its customers when modifying rules that impact severely - for example Serverholds of domain names that were done in 2025. Many .IN domain owners and business were affected in the process

.de is one of the most valuable country code extension in the aftermarket. Germany values its country code and the businesses are ready to pay appropriate market value for premium domain names - 1 word, short, 3letters etc . There are over 17 million .de domains registered.

 

In comparison, .IN has just over 4 million domains registered and domain name valuations are not quite high . Primarily due to lack of awareness for premium domains by business in India and being still young in ecommerce . 1 word generic or exact match domains, 3 Letter domains and 2 word premium keywords will see increasing demand as India's ecommerce and internet businesses grow

 

Bharat Taxi using a .com instead of .IN , why :

Just saw news that BharatTaxi is expanding its services in India , using the domain name BharatTaxiApp.com, to compete with Ola , Uber etc. Its an initiated promoted by the Govt . 

 

Interestingly no business can register .IN domains with keyword "Bharat" currently , restricted by NIXI (.IN Registry) hence they can't register BharatTaxi .in or BharatTaxi .co.in . It would have been ideal to use them as well or have them as their primary website. 

 

So any business looking to use "Bharat" in their website address will have to go with a .com or any other extension . This is not good for .in, to drive businesses to .com and other extensions.
